The Ministry of Health is to announce an end of Ebola outbreak in Uganda.

Ebola is a contagious fever with a high fatality rate. With such symptoms as fever, bleeding, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache, rash and red eyes.

According to Ms. Rukia Nakamatte the ministry spokesperson, the 41 days required before marking an end to an epidemic are ending today.
The outbreak, which was reported to have occurred in Luwero district early last month, had remained a mystery until a 12-year-old girl from Zirobwe sub-county in Luwero district died at Bombo Military Hospital on May 12.

At first, the health officials wondered whether it was Ebola. But after further tests were performed by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta in the US, it was confirmed that the outbreak was Ebola.

The Ebola isolation ward set up at the hospital shall remain in place to handle any future cases of disease outbreaks.
