    For over 15 years the Uganda Tourism Board has served the country in ensuring the success and growth of tourism in Uganda. This has been in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry since its inception. The world over, the board is marketing and promoting the Pearl of Africa, its true nature, culture, wildlife, accommodation, and hospitality all packed in a country that is "Gifted by Nature".

    In exercising its mandate as a promotion institution, of turning Uganda into a tourist destination, the Uganda Tourism Board commits itself to inspection of tourist accommodation and facilities and services to ensure conformity to standards, to promote and contribute to the development of the tourism sector both within and outside of Uganda in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry and the private sector in the implementation of the national tourism policy.

    The functions of the Uganda Tourism Board includes but not limited to:

    • To formulate, in cooperation and in consultation with the private sector and relevant entities, a marketing strategy for tourism in Uganda
    • To implement the marketing strategy and to promote Uganda as an attractive and sustainable tourist destination
    • To encourage and promote domestic tourism within Uganda
    • To encourage investment in the tourism sector and wherever possible, to direct such investment to the less developed tourism areas
    • To promote and sponsor educational programs and training in the tourism sector including schools, in consultation and cooperation with appropriate entities
