Uganda last night scooped best the best Africa Exhibitor Award for 2015 at Africa's premier expo, the Indaba Tourism Fair.
The Uganda Tourism Board, (UTB) beat neighbors Rwanda, which came second and Kenya which came third from a host of most countries in Africa including hosts South Africa. 28 countries Exhibited at the show.
Speaking after receiving the award, UTB Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Asiimwe, said, "This award is an illustration of what Uganda is like." We had a stand that was built natural materials like reeds, a grass thatched roof and natural flowers."
"The character and air around the stand also exuded true authentic,friendly and amiable Ugandan environment". Pure Grit that was responsible for grading the stands said "Uganda had the most authentic, natural country on the continent," Marie Lundu, an official said.
UTB which hosted the event, also organized a cocktail on the opening day at Ushaka Moyo, an upmarket marine restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean.

The chief guest was the state minister for tourism, Ms. Agnes Akiror Egunyu. Others were the PS of Tourism Amb. Patrick Mugoya, the UTB chairman, Mr. James Tumusiime, the UWA executive director, Dr. Andrew Sseguya, Ngamba Island Chimp Sanctuary, Ms. Lillian Ajarova.
The Ugandas stand hosted 14 private sector companies together with UTB and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
